3-2-1 To Make An End
For your mind, body and soul
Happy 3-2-1 Sunday!
Before you’ve finished your (second) cup of coffee, you’ll have read a few things to set you up for the week ahead.
3 for your mind
Music: Look at the stars, Look how they shine for you, And all the things that you do. - Yellow by Coldplay
Podcast: How to embrace change and becoming good enough looks at how Erin’s life, often driven by academic achievement, changed after her son was born with down syndrome.
"He's given me experiences that have truly pushed me to be a better version of myself. He's shown me the enormous gratitude for small things, for small progress, for small achievements."
Book: “You Never Know” is my kind of holiday read. Tom Selleck shares remarkable stoires from serving in the army to a stint on The Dating Game, and he does so in his uniquely charasmatic, unpretentious and funny way. I am about three quarters through “You Never Know” and we have only just started filming Magnum P.I, after which his stardom really took off. Highly recommend.
2 for your body
Move: Flow.
I am currently obsesssed with calisthenics and love to play around learning new flow skills. My recent discovery is this YouTube channel, hosted by LeoMoves.
Eat: Extra Dark Chocolate
Research has shown that Extra Dark Chocolate can help calm the mind because:
It’s rich in cacao flavonoids - a type of antioxidant that helps to reduce the inflammatory effects of oxidative stress in the brain for lower stress and reduced symptoms of depression.
Extra dark chocolate interacts with the receptors for both serotonin and dopamine, two neurotransmitters that help regulate the stress response and boost mood.
It even can act as a prebiotic, which helps to feed the good bacteria in the gut and thus promote a healthy microbiome for reduced inflammation and symptoms of anxiety and depression.
The key is to always read your labels and look for a version that is at least 80% cacao to get the most nutrient benefit. Even better, look for a raw dark chocolate to get the added benefits of probiotics!
1 for your soul
T. S. Eliot ~
What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.
