What would it take to be more present every day?
Hey there!
Welcome to this week's edition of What Would It Take? the companion to my podcast Something Shifted all about change and possibility.
Today, I’m excited to share one perspective, two tips, and three resources on how to be more present every day.
"The present moment is the only time over which we have dominion."
One Perspective:
Being present every day is all about fully engaging with the here and now, rather than getting lost in past regrets or future worries.
It means paying attention to your thoughts, emotions, and surroundings. When you’re truly present, you experience life more deeply and connect better with yourself and others.
Two Tips:
Mindful Breathing: Spend a few minutes each day focusing on your breath. Inhale deeply, hold it for a moment, and then exhale slowly. This simple practice can help ground you in the present moment.
Digital Detox: Set aside specific times during the day to unplug from your devices. Reducing distractions allows you to fully engage with the world around you.
Three Resources:
Video: Stop Meditating and Start Being Present - Peter McEwan speaks at TEDxBoulder about “dissociating from the freshness of the moment.”
Podcast: The Most Effective Tools for Managing Stress and Anxiety with Noa Belling - Award-winning, bestselling author, psychotherapist and corporate consultant, Noa Belling shares insights from discuss her latest book, Stress Less: Managing anxiety in a modern world.
Book: The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle - A powerful guide to spiritual enlightenment that emphasizes living in the present moment.
Remember, being present is a journey that takes patience and practice.
